Pimp my (other) Ride!

My new company-supplied vehicle. Very nice, but I'm still not sure what to make of the color. This color looks great on Swade's car, but I'm quite sure of it on this car. Seems a little over the top.

I'm open to opinions and suggestions.

Take a look at the future of the subcontinent.

I don't know what they're doing in India besides answering the phones for Dell, but this may give us a clue.

Saabrina!!

Saabrina is a 1995 Saab 900 that Mark Ward is converting to an electric vehicle. Now that I'll be spending a fair amount of time in the area, I hope that I can actually see Saabrina first-hand someday.

Kudos!

The case for music education.

Sigur Ros. Four people with fancy-schmantzy music educations making incomprehensible music that is truly beautiful, original and brooding at the same time. They've embraced and maintained their Icelandic language and heritage, which prevents widespread popularity in the US.

Take a listen. You'll be hooked.

Don't buy Citgo Gasoline.

Many people don't know that Citgo is owned by PdV S.A. (Petroleo de Venezuela, S.A.), the state-owned oil monopoly in Venezuela. I was surprised to see their website brag about their 'true nationalization' of oil assets -- stealing equipment and nullifying oil contracts by force in order to use their oil strategically as a global weapon. But I digress.

I'm appalled at Hugo Chavez's (he's the dictator of Venezuela) comments of earlier today in his address to the United Nations. Calling another human being 'the Devil' is perhaps the lowest and most vile insult imaginable. However, I'm even more angered by his claim that the US government probably planned the September 11 events in order to trigger a war for global domination.

I will not finance his plans in ANY way. Not one penny. Citgo, no!

P.S. I was floored at the naivete of the liberals that proposed the opposite -- see here. I simply do not understand how some will believe in the noble intentions of a completely unstable dictator that attempted a violent coup d'etat a short time before his 'election' and the same people completely reject the statements of a democratically elected leader within their own country. It simply does not stand to reason.

The 1980's: Oh, the humanity!

Recently, a good friend of ours, I'll call him Pat (because that's his name *rimshot*), turned forty. The big four-oh. His wife, we'll call her Arion-May, decided to celebrate 1980's style. Her reasoning: "It was the highlight of Pat's life -- the 1980's were very good to Pat."

Indeed.

However, the 1980's were awfully good to another person present -- my pretty wife! Check the picture for all the evidence that you need: she bagged the award for The Biggest Hair, and she's a natural in the tacky white 'shoulder' jacket! (Click to enlarge.)

I went to the party wearing something that I never wore in the actual Eighties: a muscle shirt and a rising sun headband. Fun had by all, especially Tim, who showed an uncanny resemblance to Mike Score of the 1980's phenomenon, Flock of Seagulls.

Maybe the coolest music video ever

OK Go's treadmill video -- it's very original!!!

Swade car caught in the wild!!

While travelling in upstate South Carolina, I happened upon Swade's doppelganger! The pictures from my camera phone don't do it justice, but the car in question is a Lightning Blue Saab 9-3 Viggen. Since it sports the original Saab-Scania interlocking circle badging, I'm guessing that it's a 1999 or 2000 model.

Great-looking car, complete with Florida tags that feature the Tampa Bay Lightning logo! I want one. Even if the brakes look goofy.

Panasonic Toughbooks

I've been slow to post lately as I've started a new gig with Panasonic selling Toughbooks. Great, great, GREAT!! This company has its act together, and has great products to boot.

I'm saving my pennies for a CF-W5 with Bluetooth, Sprint EVDO and a DVD drive. Only 2.8 lbs.!! Nice.
